Your Questions About Gout Toes Symptoms

Charles asks…

what are the signs or symptom’s of gout?

my toe joint on both toes feel like they are broken(they aren’t).

admin answers:

You can have gout on any of your toes, but the great toe is the most common;; usually redness & swelling are the most prominent features..the redness & swelling usually cause a shininess to the skin..but the effects of weight bearing cause you to soar through the roof with pain…you’ve GOT to go to the doc, there is truly no way of getting relief except for medication…good luck!!

Richard asks…

painful stinging burning toes?

from the baby toe to the 3rd. toe they are very painful burning and stinging, so much at times i can’t even touch them, it’s to the point that it bothers me almost on a daily basis,i have the start of diabetes, along with the gout, so yes, they might be contributing to the problem, but what i’d like to know is if anyone has the same symptoms, and what if anything do they do for it, i tried otc pain releivers and foot gels also tried to use a tens machine with no relief, have no insurance to further pursue this medically, so any and all info would be appreciated

Lizzie asks…

Gout or Not, that is the Question?

About a week ago I suddenly experienced a terribly painful big toe on my left foot. The pain was almost unbearable and felt as though it was throbbing. I had been walking over rocks bare footed over the weekend and wondered had I bruised my toe? Two days later I hobbled (literaly) to the Doctor in search of help. A colleague had suggested I may have gout – so I googled it immediatly and decided indeed my symptoms matched with one exception, my foot and toe were not red and swollen and appeared to be in perfect condition.

The Doctor inspected my foot/toe and said she did not believe it was gout but a stone bruise or similar injury. I left with a prescription for anti inflammatory tablets which are keeping the pain down.

BUT…. a week later I am starting to wonder if the diagnosis was correct? My toe is still in pain and I dare not forget to take the drugs or I soon know about it. How long does gout pain continue? How long does stone bruise pain continue?

Most certainly I will head back to the Doctor if this isnt over in another week…… in the meantime any one have advice or thoughts on my condition?

Cheers

I get gout and it feels like someone has smashed my foot with a hammer…but I dont always get redness and swelling.
Pain from gout will vary on the severity of the attack so will the time it takes to ease off,,without my medication the pain has lasted for 3 weeks until I could get to the quacks.
If your pain continues go and see the Dr again,,they may need to check your Uric Acid levels…thats what causes gout,,high purine in your diet,,so you may have to watch what you eat…if you’ve already googled it,,you’ll know what Im talking about.
